The programme

What GrammarMetric is.

What is GrammarMetric?

GrammarMetric is a small, independent English school run by one teacher, Charlie, with its own classroom in the Santisuk English School building in Bang Kapi, Bangkok, in partnership with Santisuk. It opened in January 2026. The core programme is IELTS preparation in live groups of six students or fewer, with private lessons alongside. Every class is taught by the same teacher, and the practice apps students use at home are built here too.

Which courses can I take?

Two. IELTS preparation, which is the main programme and runs in four levels from Foundation to Advanced. And private lessons, one-to-one or paired, in General English, Business English, SAT prep and Cambridge KET prep.

How is the IELTS programme structured?

It follows Cambridge's Mindset for IELTS series, level by level. Foundation (pre-A2 to A2) builds the 500 core words and patterns. Intermediate (B1, IELTS 4.5 to 5.5) breaks the plateau. Upper-Intermediate (B2, IELTS 5.5 to 6.5) adds academic vocabulary and exam technique. Advanced (C1+, IELTS 7.0 to 8+) works on Band 7 and beyond. A full level takes about 16 weeks, which is four terms, and you join at the level your placement puts you in.

Is it Academic or General Training IELTS?

Academic. The course books, practice tests and mock exams are all Academic IELTS, which is the version universities ask for. If you need General Training, tell me at the demo class and I will talk it through honestly.

Who studies here?

Anyone who wants to learn English, whatever your nationality or first language. Students come from across Bangkok and include Thai and Chinese speakers, expats, working professionals, university students and school pupils. Most arrive for one of two reasons: they have an IELTS test to take, or they simply want better English and find that exam preparation is the most efficient way to get it.

Do I need to speak English already?

No. The Foundation level starts below A2, with guided speaking from the first lesson. Classes are taught in English at the level you actually are, so nobody is left behind. You are welcome to message me in Thai or Chinese before you start.

Getting started

From first click to first lesson.

How do I start?

Three steps. Take the free three-minute level check on this site. Book a free demo class, in person or online. Then join the next term at the level the teacher confirms. Nothing is paid until you decide to enrol.

Is the demo class really free?

Yes. It is a real lesson with the teacher, not a sales meeting, and there is no obligation afterwards. I run at least one demo class every month, and most of my students started with one.

How do you decide which level I start in?

Two checks. The online level check gives a first reading from your vocabulary. Then the teacher confirms it in your demo class, because a vocabulary quiz cannot hear you speak or read your writing. If the two disagree, the teacher's judgement wins.

What if I want a higher class than the placement says?

I will tell you honestly. Putting a student in a class that flatters them wastes a term and their money, and it is the most common way language schools quietly fail people. The demo class is free precisely so this conversation happens before you pay anything.

When can I join?

A new term starts every month, so you never wait long. Message me and I will tell you when the next class at your level begins and whether it has a seat.

Terms and lessons

What a term looks like.

How long is a term?

One term is 15 lessons over a calendar month, Monday to Thursday, two hours a lesson, so about 30 hours of live teaching. Between lessons you practise on your own device, and your results come back to class.

What days and times are classes?

Group classes run Monday to Thursday, two hours a lesson. Classes start at 7:30am, 10am, 1pm, 4:45pm or 7pm; message me to find the group at your level. Private lessons are scheduled around your week, one to two times a week.

How many students are in a class?

A hard cap of six in a group class. It is a cap, not an average: the class does not grow to ten because demand was high that month. Paired classes take two students, and one-to-one is exactly that.

What happens in a lesson?

Two hours of live teaching in which every student speaks. The lesson runs on the main screen, and each student follows the same moment on their own device, written at their own level. Strong reader but weaker writer? You are placed separately on each skill rather than averaged into one label.

How do I know I am making progress?

Your scores are tracked from the first session to the end of the term, so progress is a number you can look at rather than a feeling your teacher reports. At the end of the term you get a report showing where you started, where you are, and what to work on next.

Can I take two classes at once?

Yes. Some students take two group classes in the same term, and two classes cost ฿12,000 rather than ฿14,000.

Price

What it costs, in full.

One class, one term, one price. The same fee applies whether you sit in the room in Bang Kapi, join online, or mix the two.

  • One to two times a week
How much does a group class cost?

฿7,000 for one class for one term. That covers 15 two-hour lessons, about 30 hours of live teaching, in a group of six students or fewer, plus the practice apps you use between lessons. The price is the same whether you attend in person, online or hybrid.

Is there a discount for two classes?

Yes. Two group classes cost ฿12,000 instead of ฿14,000.

How much are private lessons?

฿600 an hour, one-to-one, in sessions of 1, 1.5 or 2 hours, one to two times a week. Paired lessons for two students cost less per person than one-to-one; ask me for a quote for your pair.

What is included in the fee?

Everything you need for the term: the lessons, the class materials, the practice apps, placement and your end-of-term progress report. You do not need to buy the course books; the pages you need are provided in class.

What is free?

The three-minute level check, the demo class, and the honest advice about where to start. None of them commits you to anything.

How and when do I pay?

Tuition is the only thing you pay in advance: it is paid per term, before the term begins, by PayPal or Thai bank transfer. The PromptPay QR code and the PayPal link are on the sign-up page.

In person, online, hybrid

Where you sit is the only thing that changes.

Where are the classes?

In person. The address is Santisuk English School, 3071 Lat Phrao Rd, Khlong Chan, Bang Kapi, Bangkok 10240 (directions). GrammarMetric is its own school, with its own classroom in that building, in partnership with Santisuk. Online and hybrid students join from anywhere.

Can I study fully online?

Yes. Online classes are taught live by the same teacher, with the same syllabus and the same class cap. They are not recordings.

What is a hybrid class?

One live lesson with students in two places at once. Some sit in the classroom in Bang Kapi, others join online, and everyone follows the same moment of the same lesson on their own device. It is not a separate online section and not a recording.

Can I switch between coming in and joining online?

Yes. Come in when you can and join the same live lesson online when you cannot. It is one class, so nothing is missed by switching.

What do I need to join online?

A laptop, tablet or phone with a modern browser, a stable internet connection and headphones. Everything runs in the browser through the student login on this site, so there is nothing to install.

What if I miss a lesson?

If you cannot come in, join the same lesson online that day. Lessons are live and not recorded, so let me know in advance when you can.

Books and homework

Published books, and practice you will actually do.

Which books do you teach from?

Cambridge English's published series: Mindset for IELTS for exam skills, Cambridge Vocabulary for IELTS, and Common Mistakes at IELTS. Internationally benchmarked books, not homemade photocopies.

Do I have to buy the books?

No. The pages you need are provided in class, and the vocabulary and grammar practice happens in apps I build, on your own device. If you would like your own copy of a course book, I can tell you which one to buy.

What is the homework like?

Usually a game or app I built: vocabulary and grammar drilled with spaced repetition inside a real browser game, on your phone or laptop. Your results are sent back to the teacher, so the next lesson starts from what you actually got wrong.

Are there practice tests?

Yes. Timed practice tests are part of every level, taken under real exam conditions rather than as untimed worksheets, and your scores are tracked with everything else.

Contact and practical details

Ask me anything else.

How do I contact you?

LINE (chokdi412) or WeChat (chokdi82): both get the same quick reply. You can also call 098-453-1927, or email admin@grammarmetric.com. I reply within one day. Write in English, Thai or Chinese.

Do you take students under 18?

Yes. School pupils study here alongside adults, and Cambridge KET prep is built for younger learners. A parent or guardian should book the demo class and handle the enrolment.

Do you promise a band score?

No. Your band depends on your starting level and how much you practise, so promising one would be dishonest. What I promise is honest placement, a real target set with you, and measured progress you can see every term.
